Northern Law are based in the Pennines, with our office sitting proudly on the high street in Shaw, Oldham. Our ethos at Northern Law is to offer high quality legal services with an approachable attitude whilst offering our clients value for their money.

Our firm has practiced for over 10 years now, and is led by three Solicitors – Alison McGuigan, Krista Enziano and Zarka Shabab who have over 40 years legal experience between them. ALISON McGUIGAN

Alison is a Solicitor and Director in the Company. After completing her law degree in Law with Accountancy, Alison was called to the Bar in 2003.  Following this, she worked as an advocate for 8 years attending Courts throughout the North West on a daily basis representing clients in the fields of Consumer Credit, Mortgages, Landlord and Tenant, Debt Recovery and Personal Injury.  After taking 3 years out to work for a local charity as their Fundraising Lead, Alison decided the time was right to return to Law and cross qualified as a Solicitor in 2016.

A straight forward local girl with a common sense approach, Alison is passionate about her work and always looks at situations from everybody’s perspective.  She works regularly with individuals and with businesses.

Alison’s areas of practice are Property Transactions (residential and commercial), Wills, Probate and Power of Attorney. 

As a child, Alison attended Milnrow Parish Primary School and then Hollingworth High School.  Her claim to fame from school was that she played Joseph in the school’s production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat as “..none of the boys could sing!”

Alison remains a keen voluntary Charity Fundraiser and the total of the funds she has raised voluntarily now stands well in excess of a quarter of a million pounds.  She is also a Trustee of a local Charity “Jolly Josh” which supports children with profound and multiple disabilities.

Besides her fundraising, eternal optimism, and outbursts of singing in the office, Alison enjoys spending time with her family, travelling, socialising and walking her Scottish Terrier. 

KRISTA ENZIANO

Krista is a Solicitor and the Head of our Family Department. She has specialised in Family Law since she qualified in February 2019.

Krista is a member of Resolution and conducts family matters in an honest and supportive manner. Krista is a passionate, confident and very driven individual who wants to achieve the best possible outcome for her clients. Krista deals with all aspects of Family Law, including that of Divorce, Matrimonial Finances, Cohabitation Disputes, Agreements (Pre-Nuptial/Post-Nuptial/Cohabitation/Separation) and Private Children Matters. Krista also specialises in Private Client work including that of Wills, Lasting Power of Attorney, Probate and Estate Administration.

Krista is a local girl having attended Saddleworth School and Oldham Sixth Form College before attending The University of Manchester to study Law and then the Legal Practice Course at the University of Law. Krista then worked as a Paralegal at a couple of large firms in Manchester City Centre to gain experience before she commenced her Training Contract. Following qualification, Krista worked at a High Street Firm before joining Lancashire Law in July 2020 to head up the Family Department. Krista was also recently appointed as a School Governor for Hey With Zion Primary School in Lees where all of her family attended.

In her spare time, Krista loves to play Netball having played for Oldham Netball Club since the age of 12. In 2009, Krista was a part of the England Netball under 17 squad and travelled to Gibraltar where she represented her Country taking home a gold medal. From 2010 to 2015, Krista played for the Manchester Thunder Netball Superleague Team who were the winners of the competition in 2011 and 2013. When Krista isn’t working or playing Netball, she enjoys watching her two younger brothers play Rugby for Saddleworth Rangers and socialising with friends over a glass of prosecco, or two!!

ZARKA SHABAB

Zarka is a Solicitor and the Head of our Residential Conveyancing Department at the Shaw office.

Zarka originally qualified as a Licensed Conveyancer before her admission to the Roll as a Solicitor. Zarka has a vast amount of experience in Property Law having worked within this area for a number of years. Zarka fully understands the pressures clients are under when moving home and works hard to manage client expectations in order to provide an efficient service. Zarka speaks different languages and is a great asset to the team.

In her spare time, Zarka loves to spend time with her family and friends, cooking and shopping for all things designer!

OLIVIA BALL

Olivia is an Apprentice Solicitor in our Conveyancing Department and has specialised in Conveyancing since she joined us as an Apprentice Paralegal in 2018.

Olivia completed the Paralegal Apprenticeship in 2020 and is currently studying the Apprentice Solicitor course at The University of Law which she is due to complete in 2027.

Olivia is an ambitious, motivated and enthusiastic member of our team who has the ability to create positive relationships with all of our clients.

In Olivia’s spare time, she enjoys spending time with her little boy, eating out and socialising with her friends and family.
